Ligand Counting and Size Determination of Quantum Dots Using Electronegative Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Mass Spectrometry
In this study, we demonstrated that a highly electronegative, fluorinated porphyrin (TPFP) is an efficient soft MALDI matrix for the precise characterization of QD core size and surface-capping ligand stoichiometry. The soft MALDI ionization of QDs using TPFP in this work will serve as a new experimental approach for quantitative study of the surface-capping ligands, offering new insights into not only the QD size and composition but also surface chemistry.
